Do Slitting Knife Dimensions Affect Strip Quantity? Yes — And Here’s Why.
In coil slitting, one key factor is often overlooked:
the thickness and width of your Slitting Knives directly determine how many strips you can produce.
Why it matters:

Thicker knives = fewer strips
Each slit requires a knife set + spacers. A thicker stack occupies more width across the coil.

Strip width = product width + knife gap
Knife thickness increases the slit spacing, reducing total strip quantity.

Precision spacers = accurate results
Spacers—not the knives—set your final strip width. Better spacers = higher accuracy and better yield.

Example:
1250 mm coil → 50 mm strips
With 8 mm knife stack → 21 strips
With 4 mm knife stack → 23 strips
✔ Thinner knives = more output
✔ Higher material utilization
